Our Intro classes are what sets us apart from other dance schools.

One - The difference in learning speeds between any two people can easily be nine to one in the first few hours of learning. That's why you are encouraged to stay in each class until you are comfortable. And it's why we keep the information per Intro class at a minimum, so no-one gets overwhelmed. When you are ready, you simply move to the next level of class. As fast or slow as you can handle.

Two - Knowing how much tension to use to hold yourself  when you move with a partner is a new concept to most people. This is especially important for the guys who do the leading. Tension transfers on contact immediately. Or even before contact. We want you dancing on the dance floor, not wrestling.

Special note on tension: Unless you're doing high level sports, tension control isn't generally understood or even talked about in exercise environments. If you don't control your level of tension, the communication process is unclear. You simply will never partner dance well.

After the Intro classes: After everyone has learned the first four turn patterns in the Intro classes, the learning speeds are much closer for everyone and you will understand the concept of tension in partner dancing.

What are Intro classes: Our Intro Classes are where you learn the simplest of the basics. You are encouraged to do each of the first ten classes until you personally think it is easy. This is where the idea of tension control is first introduced to you. And where you learn simple movement as simple movement.

After you've gone from the Intro class by learning the first four salsa turn patterns at your own speed, you move onto the regular Level group classes. At this point, understanding instruction will be easy.

Four dance patterns is all it takes to put you on a dance floor comfortably and confidently. By the time you finish with our Level One class, you'll be ready for the dance floor at a party or latin club or dance club with anyone!
